Rianna lay there until she heard April's voice. She opened her eyes and looked at her. So it had been a bad dream. she thought. Rianna looked sympathetic knowing how much bad dreams could scare a dog. "What happened?" she asked hoping to get the whole story so she could be more likely to sooth April.
She thought back to passing that city, the feeling of dread, the stench of smoke and the faint smell of dogs. Rianna had no interest in entering the city then but she did want to see if there really were dogs in there. She turned back to April.

April shook her head slowly again like she had already done many times. "I can't remember all of it," she said, her voice sounding a bit confused and weird. "I do remember the fire though. I burnt the whole city." She paused after that, trying desperatly to remember what happened after that. It came back to her like a flash in her mind. She became frightened from just the thought. Her body started to shake and her eyes grew wide. "And then there were these dogs. But they seemed tainted... Like the fire had burned their souls and turned them evil."
April gave one last shudder and then took a deep, ragged breath, calming herself. How come this dream had seemed so real to her? It was only a dream, right? Couldn't she just forget it?

Rianna listened intently to every word. She gently pawed at April's ear comfortingly. "It's alright." she said soothingly. "It was just a dream." she knew these words were not much of comfort but they were the best Rianna could do. That's always what she told herself when she had bad dreams.
"We're at the pond. No evil dogs are around now." she said hoping to reassure April.

:April:
April nodded, but she didn't really mean it. "I know... I know..." she said. Her voice was faraway and not concentrated. It was very soft, almost as if she was whispering. Her eyes had that un-focused look to them as she shook her head back and forth, very slowly.
It was awhile before the Fae spoke again. "It was just so... real," she said, her head still rocking back and forth. Her eyes looked into the depths of the water, but she wasn't really seeing anything.

Rianna listened to April's words. "Trust me..." she said. "I know the feeling. But everything is going to be alright." she then wondered if April had noticed Rianna's scars or scrapes, bruises or scratches. She had many and they covered her body though a lot of the time they blended in and Rianna was so used to them she rarely even noticed them. They don't pain her anymore for now her body seems as though it is numb to any type of pain.
She guessed April hadn't seen them and she was happy about that for she did not want to share her past just yet. Rianna did not like being pitied because she was beaten. She remembered the last time she told someone they were so gentle with her after that as if she were a glass vase and could break at any moment. She felt like screaming that she was fine and didn't need to be treated like a pup but never did.
Now she needed to focus on comforting April.

:April:
April still lay there, shaking her head back and forth, trying to remember. When she stopped to listen to Rianna's words, she gazed at her friend. She's right... I just need to calm down.
April stopped shaking her head and took a deep breath. She then immediatly got to her paws and shook her pelt, ridding the dirt that had collected on it last night while she was sleeping. Her eyes looked more tired and saddened then they had for a long time. Right now, April looked much older then a three year old dog.
April glanced at Rianna. "I'm sorry. You're right. I'll just stop thinking about it." There was one problem though, it was still in her mind and however hard she tried to push it away it always came back. She would just have to hide her thoughts, that wouldn't be hard now, would it?

Rianna watched as April started to calm down and she was glad she was able to get through to her. "How about we get some food?" she asked trying to help April get her mind of the dream. Besides she was starting to get a little hungry. It was sunny and a hot day so hopefully they could keep cool somehow. Rianna waited there for April to respond.

April nodded her head, slowly at first, but then quickly. "Yes, food would be great!" she said, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible. She replaced the confused expression with a small smile and she gazed at Rianna. Her stomach rumbled like one of those metal things humans drive in. She hadn't noticed how hungry she was.

Rianna grinned. She was also incredibly hungry. "Let's go hunting then." she said cheerily. She stood up and shook off careful that this time she didn't fall down anything or into the pond for that matter. Then she started to walk towards a small group of trees nearby, what could be described as a small and tiny forest. She quickly entered the forest checking behind her to see if April was coming.
She sat down and crouched low listening for something, anything ot move. Then she heard a rustle in the bushes and her nose caught the scent of a rabbit. She immediately broke into a sprint for the bushes. Out came the rabbit and after it was Rianna. She was hot on its tail but knew that it could easily outrun her so she made one final leap and got extremely lucky as her teeth sank into the rabbit's flesh, instantly killing it. She walked back to April the rabbit dangling from her mouth. She was proud that she was able to get food that would be filling for not only herself but April as well. Now April didn't have to get her own food. She must be tired, bad dreams often mean a bad sleep which means bad morning.
Rianna dropped the rabbit in front of April. "Dig in!" she said happily. She bent down and took a bite out of her breakfast.
