*~Come see the Other Side of the Fence~*
A small, chilly wind blew across a vast, open peice of land, making the tall grasses that covered the area bow deep and low to avoid getting knocked down. Unlike the mighty tree that stood in the middle of the great grassland, the one tree never bowed to the wind, it shaked, shivered, and moved constantly, but it did not bow. The few brown hawks that normally ruled the skies, letting all know they were king, had long since swooped down into the great tree's mighty branches. Hunting had not gone so well today for the small family, the mother father and young fledging, just old enough to hunt, only one spare rabbit to split between themselves. And they were not so fond of sharing, even with family.
A small dog sunk low in the tall grasses of the grassland. He had only just escaped the talons of the hawks, who had thought he was some giant rabbit or something. He had come to the grasslands to relax, not be hunted, and even with the feriousious hawks in their tree, a bigger danger stood right over him.
The gray skies were simply bursting with rain, wanting to let it all out, but they had not erupted. . .yet. Gantz knew it was only a matter of time, he had heard the thunder fifteen minutes ago, and he was not fond at all about it. He had even seen the intense strokes of lighting a few times, and only kept in his whimpers because of the hawk family. He would be home by now, with West Pack, if not for those stupid hawks. Swooping as close as they could to him, trying to catch him, but him ducking low just in time. He regretted even thinking about trying to run here, for he would never try that again.
Suddenly, after a loud clap of thunder that almost made the small dog jump out of his skin, tons of rain started to pour down from the heavens, soaking him to the bone just within the second it started. He loward his ears, but did not hiss at the rain like some cat, that never did anything worthwhile, except waste a few moments getting mad at something. The small dog just looked at the sky, simply covered with rolling gray clouds that looked like something out of a movie. The hawks weren't watching, they were too busy looking at the lightning and hoping it wouldn't hit them. Now was his chance, perhaps his only chance.
He jumped up out of his crouched postion, and took off, running for what he thought his life. He didn't look back, but just kept his ears back, his eyes in front, and his legs moving. He felt as if a great greyhound had just possessed his legs, and gave him more aligilty, and speed. A cloud burst an exceptionaly loud boom of thunder in his ear, and it just made him run faster then what he had been going before.
After what seemed like forever, but probely only five minutes of this none-stop greyhound speed, Gantz plopped down in a patch of very tall grass. He had not outran the rain, and his ears, cresenst, and tail were simply soaked, but at least the hawks had not seen him. He had to be thankful for at least that. And he could see the city, like a patch of nothing in a vast nothingness, at the very end of the horizen line. He could not have seen that with the hawks.
Gantz's heart was still beating fast, his legs felt worn out, and his breath came somewhat short, but that didn't matter to him in the long run. He laid down, rain still splaterring his petite figure, keeping alert for any other danger.
((Anyone can join, and yes Akio, I am copying your pizzaz, got a problem with that? XD))
