Gypsy had spent three hours digging out the perfect den. But now it was ready and she slipped inside it. Contractions were pulling hard at her insides but she didn't even flinch. She lay on her side in the spacious den and knew what was coming. She pushed, the sooner they were out of her the sooner they'd grow into the warriors she wanted.

It took a while but eventually, with a soft thud, the body of one pup fell to the floor. The femme turned and pulled the pup towards her, licking it clean on the blood which covered it. The pup was almost completely black, large in size and male. Warrior one. Gypsy thought. Donovan. she said and licked it's head again. The pup began suckling and Gypsy was hit with the pain again. Another was born.

Eventually another fell to the floor, quickly followed by a third. Gypsy licked them clean. Another male and a female. One was small while the other was middle-sized. Zila and Wasaki she whispered. The pups began suckling and Gypsy smiled. Then she gave a howl of warning to everyone, touch them and die.

A dark figure lay snuggled together next to an ashen bush on the barren land. Zephyr, the Beta, was basking lazily in the sun of mid-day. His head lay upon his paws, with his tail curled tightly against his flank. His ears lay relaxed, and his eyelids would shut for a moment, then flutter open to make sure that no soul was around. The brute gave a long yawn, and then lay his head back onto his paws. His eyes were heavy with sleep. He wanted to go into the deep bliss of sleep, but he knew that he couldn't. It was broad daylight, and he could be attacked at any time without warning. He would fall asleep for a few minutes, then wake up, gaze across the land, then go back to a quick sleep that never seemed long enough.

Suddenly, a howl was heard. It echoed through the animal's body like an alarm. It startled him, and he jerked hisself up in suprise. He took a few woozy steps, and then planted firmly. His auds were pricked, and quickly swiveled his head around, looking fro where the call had come from. He blinked his dark oaken orbs a few times, and then sat down. The call seemed threatening, but not from an attacker. This racked his nerves a bit. But the Beta soon shook it off, and then lay down again to take his quick yet kind-of-fufilling naps. He had to be on alert, because he knew that that call had come from some dog who didn't sound in a very friendly mood.

Gypsy raised from her position and stood on her long, slender pillars, moving towards the opening of her cave and then stood half in and half out of the den. Cranium snapped one way and then the next. Behind her the hungry yelps of her pups echoed but they could live for a few minutes, she needed to stretch her legs. She moved further out of the den with auds pinned to her cranium, someone was nearby... She could tell.

Her nasals tasted the air for the scents of any and found what she was looking for. One scent. The scent of the beta, Zephyr, somewhere on her right. She looked that way but couldn't see him, her vision had been impacted by the bright light. She'd been in the den for hours. One of the pups had managed to wriggle forwards and Gypsy felt something hit the back of her left pillar. Cranium snapped round and she picked the pup up, taking one last look around before striding back into her den, resting the pup on the ground. Wasaki... Wasaki... What will I do with you my little wanderer? she asked, licking the pups head before moving back to the opening of her den and lieing there, on guard. The pups had quietened and were asleep... For now.

As the brute lay in the daylight, he heard a slight noise coming from somewhere near him. He perked up, and then strode up the hill infront of him, where the rustle had come from. He barely peaked his head over, his ears flattened tightly against his skull. The animal searched over the hill for whatever had made the sound. As he scanned, he then caught sight of the newcomer to the pack. Gypsy. Her head was just barely visible from a den that she must have dug herself. A den. She must have had her pups, because female's dig dens for that reason. His heart beat just a little faster. Zephyr knew that she had probably picked up his scent, since she was downwind. And if she had just had pups, then she would be very agressive and protective of them. He'd better not disturb her. She was definately bigger then he was, which made him nervous. She seemed powerfull as well.

He decided that he should get away from here and go nap somewhere else. He wanted to get a good sleep. But how could he get around her den without her noticing? Maybe he could slink around the back. That way, his scent wouldn't blow downwind towards the mouth of the den.

Gypsy sighed. Zephyr was nearby and not coming to see. It didn;t bother her but it seemed he thought she'd attack him or something. She'd attack a stranger or that Avalon but not Zephyr. Zephyr was different. She respected him for who he was and it was rare to gain her respect. Zephyr, you can come over. she growled loudly.

Suddenly, he heard a growl come from the den.
"Zephyr, you can come over." She had said.

At the sound of her voice, he lifted his head up. The brute was suprised at what she said. He would think that she would be angry that he was even near her den and newborn pups. But... he did wan to know how everything went with the birthing. He was glad that she let him come over. His ears perked up, and he began to make his way over to the den that Gypsy had dug. The Beta saw her standing infront of the den, but he didn't see any puppies out with her.

"Gypsy... I hope I didn't disturb you and your new-born pups. How are they? How did everything go?" He shouted, getting closer to Gypsy with every step.
He hoped good news would come from the new mother.

As zephyr came over one aueak came, then another followed by a third. After Zephyr had spoken she nodded her head. One second. she growled padding back in the den and licking the pups heads. She picked them up in powerful jaws, padded out of the den and placed them in front of her. Sorry about that. As you can probably see all is well. Two males and one femme. she said, pulling Wasaki back as he tried to wander off again. Wasaki, Donovan and Zila. she told him. The pups squeaked and she licked their heads softly, with the care she knew she had to show to them.

The Beta watched as Gypsy went into the den, and then came back out with her pups. He then sat down on his haunches and listened to her speak.
"Sorry about that. As you can probably see all is well. Two males and one femme." She said. "Wasaki, Donovan and Zila."
Zephyr looked down at these new pups. Bright, beautiful, and full of life. He loved seeing new pups come into the pack.
"Its ok. These pups are beautiful, Gypsy. They are just what the pack needs." He said, looking back up at Gypsy.
They let out a few squeaks, and Gypsy licked their heads. She cares for these pups for sure... the brute thought to himself.
